Bosch front-load washing machines are among the most common in Dubai homes. They are well built, but hard water, lint and heavy daily use cause predictable faults: blocked drain pumps, worn drum bearings and door seal leaks. E18 is the Bosch error we fix most often. The machine cannot pump the water out in time, so it stops with water in the drum. In most cases the drain pump filter behind the small flap at the bottom front is blocked by coins, hair clips, lint or a sock. If the filter is clean, the drain hose may be kinked or the drain pump motor has failed. Our technicians clear the blockage or replace the pump on the spot.
A Bosch that will not spin usually has an unbalanced load, worn motor carbon brushes (on brushed motors), or a motor control fault. A loud roaring or rumbling noise during spin that gets worse over time means the drum bearings are worn. Bearing replacement on Bosch machines is a major job, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth it for your machine’s age.
Leaks are usually from the door seal (a small tear at the bottom of the rubber gasket), the detergent drawer, a loose inlet hose, or the drain pump. If your Bosch shows E23, the Aquastop base has detected water and cut the supply, so the leak must be found before the machine will run again.
Codes can differ slightly between Bosch generations. These are the most common on current Serie 4, 6 and 8 machines.

Switch off the machine, place a towel and a shallow tray under the bottom front flap, open the drain pump filter slowly to release the water, and remove anything blocking it. If E18 returns with a clean filter, the drain pump or hose needs a technician.
The door stays locked while there is water in the drum or the drum is still hot. If the cycle has ended and the drum is empty but the door will not open, the door lock or the drain is faulty.
