Ignition problems are the most common gas stove repair. If the igniter clicks but the burner does not light, the burner ports are blocked, the burner cap is not seated correctly, or the spark electrode is dirty or cracked. If a burner lights but goes out as soon as you release the knob, the flame failure device (thermocouple) is not holding the gas valve open, a safety feature that needs repairing, never bypassing.
Constant clicking, even with all knobs off, usually means water has got into an ignition switch after cleaning or a spill, or the spark module has failed.
A healthy gas flame is blue. A yellow or orange flame means incomplete combustion, which produces soot and carbon monoxide. Causes include clogged burner ports, the wrong jet (injector) size for your gas type (LPG and natural gas use different jets), or a faulty regulator. A weak flame on all burners usually points to low pressure from the regulator or cylinder.

The flame failure device (thermocouple) is not holding the gas valve open. Hold the knob in for 10–15 seconds after lighting. If it still goes out, the thermocouple or its valve magnet needs replacing.
Usually moisture in an ignition switch after cleaning or a spill. Let the hob dry for 24 hours. If the clicking continues, the ignition switch or spark module needs replacing.
